CHALK THE WALK – SUNDAY , AUGUST 21st, 2022
Every year, the fabulous families of Fairfax Villa decorate the sidewalks of the neighborhood with words of encouragement for students! I’ve seen the pride in our kids eyes as they find their own name and shout outs, in colorful design, on the sidewalks that lead to their school on this big-deal day!
Use the chalk you’ve accumulated over time! Encourage your student to help add names! As a community member, add a positive note for school aged students at bus stops! The possibilities are endless!
We had a tremendous turnout for last year’s welcome back chalking! Check out just some of the fantastic work that was done:
Here are pictures of the school zone and neighborhood where the walkers will see the work. There are bus stops outside of this area where student bus riders would love to see messages! All you have to do is get out there for a few minutes to make a lasting, positive impact on our students!
Get ready for the 2022 / 2023 school year !
2021 / 2022 took a toll on students and staff as we ushered in the post-pandemic after-life. Our community demonstrated its resilience as we navigated a lot of political, social and wellness challenges.
Unfortunately, we’re experiencing the ripple effect. There’s a war raging overseas. In the US, people are struggling financially. Opportunities to work, live and play have been eroded by job loss, businesses closing and viral transmissions.
The Fairfax Villa Elementary School community remains strong. Check out the archive page for our accomplishments. Generous donations of water and supplies to the school helped demonstrate our passion to ensure our school has basic necessities. Now it’s time for celebrations and fun.

Back by popular demand…save your student’s artwork and turn it into Mother’s day and Father’s day gifts for family and friends! Not only show off your child’s best work, but create keepsakes of it and share your pride forever! More information can be found on our fundraising page because everything you order through the Original Works Program becomes a donation to our PTA too!

Fairfax villa Elementary School PTA is bringing back the running club for a 5K program this Spring!
Classes will be on tuesdays & fridays from 4:15pm-5:30pm.
Classes start on 03/18, this is an 8 week program to get the children ready for the Feed Fairfax 5k Race on Saturday, May 14th. Class registration fee includes the registration cost for the 5k. Those who are interested, please complete the form and send it back to villapta@gmail.com, or print and submit to the PTA mailbox in the school’s front office.

REFLECTIONS ART PROGRAM – AND THE WINNERS ARE…
All PTA Reflections program entries are judged on three criteria:
- Interpretation of Theme (40 pts.)
- Creativity (30 pts.)
- Technique (30 pts.)
Notice how heavily “Interpretation of Theme” is weighted? This is what makes the National PTA Reflections Arts Program unique. A well-developed concept is more important than technique.

Planting the World – I will change the world by planting lots of plants and help animals make homes like owls, foxes, racoons, squirrels and bunnies. It will help caterpillars and worms and butterflies. It will help soil too.

Jake dumps trash on the highway and then Jack makes a machine that disintegrates all of the trash. All over the world less and less wildlife will get destroyed if we have this machine.

thank you, thank you, thank you for your contributions to the fves boosterthon 2021 / 2022 !!!
Together, we raised over $17,000! A tremendous accomplishment as we build momentum toward normalcy!~ We raised enough to support our students’ learning materials, Mentorworks resources, this year’s PTA projects, and to contribute to the courtyard project! More information on the Courtyard as the plans progress through Fairfax County Public Schools. They have guaranteed it starts this spring!

FVES Teachers and staff – We can’t thank you enough for sticking with our children through the COVID pandemic, the many challenges that brought, and coming back to us! Lunch is on the PTA, Tuesday, August 17th, your workday. Please unwind with us for lunch, in the cafeteria, less than a week before the start of our next journey, this school year!
This year, the 2021/2022 PTA board had lunch brought in for the staff from the infamous Super Pollo on Quincy St. in Arlington, VA.

2022 teacher and staff appreciation week was amazing!
Meg Moody and her volunteers did an amazing job coordinating teacher gifts, creating murals , and so much more! With travel as the theme, they did a great job fueling up love tanks with gestures of appreciation. The response from teachers and staff filled PTA’s. We all have enough gas in the tank to fuel us for our upcoming journeys for many months to come, thanks to all these positive feels!
